Since our beginning in 1994, Alcan General, Inc. has provided our clients with complete design and construction packages for projects of varying size and degree of complexity. Our projects have included new facilities such as schools, hospitals, museums, churches, maintenance and military facilities, municipal structures, and major renovations and additions.

Beginnings

In 1994, Alcan General began with two employees. Over the years, Alcan General has grown considerably with an annual sales volume of over $45 million. Stephen K. Jelinek President and Owner of Alcan General, Inc. has over twenty-six years in the construction industry, and been with the company since 1998.

Client Services

Dimond High School - Anchorage, Alaska

Schools: Alcan General, Inc. has constructed a number of new schools and has renovated several older schools in the Anchorage and Fairbanks areas. Dimond High School, located in Anchorage, Alaska, was one of the first high schools to be built in the Anchorage School District in over twenty years. With a large price tag $47.5 million, community scrutiny was intense, but Alcan General, Inc. delivered an amazing school, well within budget and ahead of schedule.

Public Works: From police stations to courthouses, to munitions facilities and passenger deployment buildings, Alcan General Inc. has constructed some of the more notable buildings in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Eielson AFB, and Kenai.

Medical Facilities: Alcan General, Inc. participated in the remodel/renovation of several of Anchorage Providence Hospital’s projects. These remodel projects were finished without undue disruption to the hospital staff or patients. In addition, Alcan General, Inc. constructed the Providence Seward Medical Center, and the new $33 million dollar Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna Alaska.

Projects

Alcan General successfully completed the challenging Anchorage Museum Expansion Project with a total contract amount of $71.4 million. The scope of work included 77,000 square feet of new expansion that meets the Smithsonian Institute requirements, an interior renovation of the existing facility, a new Planetarium, and a roof replacement on the existing building that included new architectural upgrades such as metal panels and a skylight above the museum’s atrium.
